How to Help

We have suggested many ways that you can help the monastery. It is also possible to help in a very practical way through the Tengboche Development Project, which concentrates on the services in Tengboche used by the tourists such as water and sanitation. There are no roads to Tengboche and everything is expensive there. Increased tourism makes it even more expensive to work in Tengboche as food and transportation prices soar. It is about ten times more expensive to buy a bag of cement to build a toilet in Tengboche than it is in Kathmandu. It seems only fair that the trekkers who use them should also contribute to the building and up keep of them. As we have mentioned you can bring a donation with you and give it direct to the monastery. If you have enjoyed Tengboche in the past or plan on visiting and would like to make a donation direct to the monastery or send money direct to:

The Tengboche Development Project
Himalayan Bank Limited
Tridevi Marg
Kathmandu, Nepal
Account Number 11433J0

Donations for the Nuns

Donnations to help the Nuns of Khumbu at Devoche, Pangboche and other Nunnies in the Khumbu area should be sent care of:

Jennifer Anne Crump
Nabil Bank ( Nepal Arab Bank Ltd)
Kantipath Branch
Kathmandu, Nepal
Account Number 0101013767401

It is essential that you could send us an email at donations@tengboche.org to confirm any transfers made and so that we can thank you personally.

Volunteers

There is no official program for volunteers and there is no money to provide any financial help, food or accommodation. The altitude and cold make conditions are quite tough and usually it is better to use any funds available to employ local people rather than volunteers. However, if you have any special skills that could help the Eco-Center or medical herb plantation please contact us at volunteers@tengboche.org.
